The East Neuk had an opportunity to see the machinery – and the skills – in action that have kept Fife’s fields tilled.
Fife Vintage Agricultural Machinery Club (FVAMC) held its second ploughing match of the year at Wellfield, Abercrombie last Sunday.
Last month saw a very closely-contested match at Pusk Farm, Leuchars, so Sunday’s event settled who will collect the silverware at the annual presentation dance in December.
There would have been a question mark over the Wellfield meeting with Saturday’s foul weather but Sunday lived up to its name with perfect weather.
There were a few spectators who turned out to see the skills on show – from tractors to genuine horse-power.
The FVAMC is a long-established group of enthusiasts.
The members recently presented a cheque for £3000 to Macmillan Cornhill Cancer Centre raised through raffling a David Brown 990 tractor.
