Police officers have confirmed they are investigating a suspicious death at a flat overlooking Kirkcaldy Esplanade in the early hours of this morning (Thursday).
Detective Inspector Gary Boyd, from Police Scotland, said: “We can confirm that police are investigating a suspicious death that happened within a flat in Forth View in Kirkcaldy earlier today.
“Emergency services were called to the address just after 5.00 a.m., where a 45-year-old man was found injured. He subsequently died at the scene.
“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened within the flat, and a man and a woman are currently helping police with their inquiries.
“At this time I would like to provide reassurance that this is an isolated incident, and there is no wider risk to the public. There is an increased police presence in the area as we carry out our inquiries, and officers are carrying out additional patrols in order to provide reassurance to local residents.”
Neighbours in the block reported being woken by the arrival of an ambulance and police during the early hours of the morning.
Scenes of crime officers in white suits spent several hours within the first floor premises and police officers stopped and took the names of people entering and leaving the block at 230-276 Forth View, while crime scene tape sealed off the garden area in front of the block.
