Adventurous individuals and charitable souls will be chilling out by the shore in Anstruther on Boxing Day.

And while there will be plenty of festive feeling in the air, the main purpose is to make a splash – with the 2014 East Neuk Dook.

Yes, on December 26, a 50-strong group of volunteers will bravely be hurling themselves into the Forth’s freezing depths, clad in souvenir t-shirts, to raise money for a worthy cause.

The event starts at 3.00 p.m. and the charity being supported this year is the MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Society Fife.

The occasion is being sponsored once again by The Bank restaurant in Anstruther and the organisers are being assisted by an ever-reliable group of helpers – on dry land and in the water.

Co-founder Kevin Corps will miss the event for the first time in its 14-year history, because of work commitments abroad.

But, along with a few other regulars who’ll be unavailable this year, Kevin is planning to take the plunge in January after his return.

There are still some places left and would-be leapers can get more details on the East Neuk Dook’s Facebook page, or by calling Kevin on 0780 190 9750 or his wife Fiona on 0752 727 3767.
