Teenager rescued from waist-deep mud

A teenager was rescued last night after becoming trapped in mud at a Fife beauty spot.

The incident happened at around 9.30pm at Lochore Meadows last night, and involved Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, as it is understood the boy was trapped up to his waist.

The alarm was raised after someone heard the teenager’s cries for help.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 9.29pm on Wednesday, April 22 to reports of person in difficulty at Lochore Meadows on Great North Road, Kelty.

“Three fire appliances and two water rescue unit were mobilised to the scene, where crews assisted one male casualty who had become stuck in mud, he was assisted to safety using a rescue path.

“The casualty was thereafter passed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service for a precautionary check. Crews left at 10.58pm.”
