ANYONE who is a fan of the late King of Pop should definitely go and see “Thriller” at the Edinburgh Playhouse.
The state-of-the-art production, which is packed full of song and dance for over two hours, is the perfect tribute to the work of Michael Jackson - his songs are brought to life through the talented singers and performers.
It showcases his work from his younger days when he was a member of the Jackson Five all the way through to the last few years of his life. The lighting, staging and use of movie screens give the audience a sense of what it must have been like to see the King of Pop perform live. The show doesn’t just feature one performer but rather a few from the excellent John Moabi, Emmanuel Sakyi and Samantha Johnson to the exceptional Michael Duke as the lead dancer. I was astounded by how alike he was to the late Jackson - he has perfected his moves to a T. All the favourite songs are included from “Blame it on the Boogie”, to “Beat It”, “The Way You Make Me Feel”, the spectacular “Smooth Criminal” and of course “Thriller.”
The vocals were generally well done and they were supported by a fantastic live band. If you are a fan of Michael Jackson you will love this production and you are guaranteed to be on your feet dancing by the end of the show!
Thriller Live runs at the Playhouse until Saturday (May 4).
