Lib Dem candidate has been chosen to succeed Sir Menzies Campbell to stand for North East Fife in the next Westminster elections in 2015.

Tim Brett, leader of Fife Council Liberal Democrats and former chief executive of Ninewells Hospital, was the overwhelming choice of the party in North East Fife.

Ming announced last year that he would be stepping down after 26 years as the constituency’s MP.

Tim, who is married with three grown-up children, has lived in North East Fife for nearly 30 years.

Commenting, Ming said Tim had the qualities to tackle the most challenging issues and would be a formidable MP.

Tim, who has represented the Taybridgehead ward since 2003, said: “Ming Campbell leaves a legacy which will be difficult to follow but I am relishing the opportunity to do so.”
