Craigtoun Meadowns Caravan Park has picked up another top accolade and underlined its description as one of the top sites in the country.

VisitScotland has again awarded the park five-star status - one of only a dozen to achieve this standard this year - and its inspection marks also put Craigtoun in the top three in the country.

“We are extremely proud to achieve this award once again, with such a high score from Visit Scotland,” said Jim Gordon, managing director.

“This award, along with the Gold Pennant award from the AA, reflects the hard work put in by all staff, and is recognition of the continued investment from the company, both of which ensure that Craigtoun Meadows continues to flourish as one of the very best holiday parks in Scotland.”

For several years now Craigtoun Meadows has scored 100% for cleanliness, with six out of the eight categories this year being judged “exceptional”. Special mention was also made of the continued investment in holiday homes for hire, reception services, recreation, sport and leisure facilities and the overall maintenance of the grounds.

The VisitScotland advisor who visited the Park stated: “High standards have been met throughout Craigtoun Meadows. It is clear that the staff take great pride in the park with grounds in excellent order and landscaped areas enhancing the overall appearance of the park.”

The award follows Craigtoun Meadows receiving its Gold Pennant award from the AA at a recent ceremony in Bristol, one of only two parks in Scotland to achieve this grading - the other also being a St Andrews park, Cairnsmill, which brought further glory to the town by being named the AA Campsite of the Year for Scotland 2014.

Both parks were recently visited by Scottish Tourism Minister Fergus Ewing on a fact-finding tour. Mr Ewing was told that, according to independent research, the two parks together inject more than £3.5 million into the local economy every year and how guests’ spending helps to support other businesses.
