Toy Drive 2016was '˜fantastic'

The generosity shown this year will help make Christmas special for children who would otherwise go without.

The month-long campaign finished on Wednesday and organiser Victoria Leonard says the response has been ‘fantastic.’

“Now in our fourth year, we have again had another fantastic response from nurseries, primary schools, secondary schools, local businesses and charities across the north east of Fife who have acted as collection points throughout the month of November,” she said.

“The calibre of gift being donated has been of such a high standard and we are extremely proud here at Toy Drive HQ to say that every single gift donated in the north east of Fife stays here.

“The north east of Fife is a considerably large area and we have spent a great deal of time and effort over the last four years building relationships with both statutory and voluntary agencies and working alongside businesses and schools to ensure we understand the needs of our area.

“So much hard work goes on behind the scenes to ensure we maximise our referrals to support as many children and families as possible.

“Last year’s event is testament to this with between 350-400 individual referrals being matched.”

Victoria continued: “We have also received some monetary donations this year from WAAAGH (Women’s Anti-Austerity Action Group in the Howe), north east Fife Rotary Club and Fife Council.

“Tesco Riverside also supported us by donating 10 crates of brand new toys.

“My heartfelt thanks to everyone involved.”
