A92 crash: Police issue update on injured officer

Police have issued an update on the officer who was seriously injured after being hit by a car transporter on the A92 yesterday.

The officer was flown to hospital by helicopter after the road was closed in both directions yesterday.

Last night, police issued an update, saying the officer would be kept for observation, but his injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

In a tweet, Police Scotland said: “The officer has been assessed and is thankfully not believed to have any life-threatening injuries.

“However, he remains in hospital for observations.

“Thank you for all the supportive messages. Enquiries continue & anyone who witnessed this can call 101 and quote 1746 of February 27.”

It was one of three crashes on the A92 yesterday afternoon which caused problems for commuters.

Shortly after the road was reopened, a van left the carriageway and ended up in some trees near Lochgelly.

There was also a crash at the Five Roads Roundabout near Kilmany, when a Mini and a Nissan were involved in a collision having been required to take evasive action due to other road users.
