MSP’s challenge to council as motorists urged to report potholes in Fife roads

Fifers are being urged to report potholes as a Fife MSP asks Fife Council to clarify its resources to make the region’s roads safer

Alex Rowley has asked the local authority to confirm that teams are in place to take emergency action.

He submitted a picture highlighting a pothole which he said was still a danger two weeks after being reported.

Mr Rowley said: “These kinds of holes in the road do serious damage to cars, can cause accidents and are costing car owners money they can ill afford.

“I am urging the public to report all road defects as the council insurance will find it very difficult to refuse a claim for damage where it is shown the defect was reported but not acted on.”

He added: “The state of some of our roads is a disgrace. We need a plan for addressing them, but we also need to know that defects that are dangerous are being treated with the urgency they require.”
