Hide AdThe reduction, carried out under a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO), is on the grounds of road safety.
There have been several local concerns in recent years regarding the volume and speed of traffic travelling through the hamlet near Cupar.
Roads and transportation services have received an increasing number of complaints from residents on the issue, as well as problems crossing the road and difficulty exiting accesses on the A91.
The new speed limit is supported by Police Scotland.

Hide AdA report presented to the North East area committee said: “The 40mph speed limit will help encourage lower generic speeds that are more appropriate for the more residential environment through the Bow of Fife.”
New speed limit signs will be put in place – the change will cost around £1,500.
Councillor Donald Lothian, committee convener said: “Three or four years ago I was in favour of it getting this reduced speed, but it did not getting universal support at that point, so I’m glad there has been a change.
“A 40mph limit makes sense in my opinion.”
The new limit was unanimously agreed by all councillors. A date has not yet been given when it will be implemented, but the change will be advertised in advance.
