St Andrews bridge works set to start on Monday

Work is set to begin on strengthening the bridge across St Nicholas Burn at Woodburn Place next week.

The project will begin on Monday and is set to last for nine weeks.

Part of the existing bridge will be removed and replaced by a concrete slab.

In addition, the existing traffic island will be removed, allowing traffic to flow two-ways once the work is complete.

The project is being done by Realm Construction on behalf of Fife Council.

The bridge will remain open during a majority of the work, with a give and take system in place, as is currently the case.

However, a road closure will be required for two days nearing the end of the project to complete the resurfacing of the road.

Fife Council says it apologises in advance for any inconvenience which might be caused during these essential repair works.
