Three car crash closes A985 Fife road during morning rush hour

A busy Fife road was closed this morning as emergency services were called to a three-car crash.

The incident happened on the A985 near Cairneyhill shortly after 7.30am today.

The road was closed in both directions for almost two hours, causing delays throughout the morning.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.40am on Wednesday, 3 March, we received a report of a crash on the A985 in Dunfermline.

“Emergency services attended and the A985 was closed for a short time and fully reopened around 9.30am.”

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service: "We were alerted at 7.53am on Wednesday, March 3 to reports of a road traffic collision involving three vehicles on the A985 near Charlestown, Fife

"Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances and firefighters extracted one person from one vehicle and transferred them into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

"Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe."
