Stagecoach are holding consultation events across Fife next week to discuss proposed timetable changes for August. The bus company is travelling across the county with an information bus to speak to customers about potential timetable changes affecting routes in the area.

A spokesman for Stagecoach East confirmed there would be no bus services running in the Kingdom due to the poor weather and road conditions although some journeys may start on key routes and along main roads later.

There are also currently no trains running through Fife as lines need to be tested to ensure it is safe for them to do so following overnight snow, a spokesman said.

The ScotRail website was later updated to say that a limited train service would operate on the Edinburgh to Dundee route today.

The i newsletter cut through the noise

In a statement from Stagecoach it said: “All services are suspended at present however we may commence some journeys on key routes and along main roads only - any services we make a decision to operate will be shown in a list below as and when possible.

“Due to poor weather and road conditions, particularly due to drifting snow and inaccessible roads, no services have been operating this morning. We have assessed a number of local roads and we may introduce some services along main roads only for those requiring travel, however we are still in discussions with local authorities as this will not be possible until bus stations have been cleared. We will post updates on our Twitter feed (@StagecoachEScot) on any routes we commence.”

Meanwhile a spokesman for ScotRail added: “There are currently no trains running through Fife, as we need to test the lines to ensure that it is safe to run trains following the snow overnight.”

He advised that all service information is being posted on Twitter @@ScotRail
