Tributes after Fife road tragedy

Tributes have been paid to a member of Kirkcaldy Ladies Rugby Club who has died in a road collision,

Sharon Smith died when her car was involved in a collision on the A985 near High Valleyfield.

It happened in the early hours of Sunday morning, around 2.30 a.m.

No other vehicle was involved.

Miss Smith played with Kirkcaldy last season and, the club’s Facebook page tribute said: ‘‘This is a true loss, as she was a fantastic team mate and friend to all. She will be greatly missed. Thoughts are with her family at this time.’’

Police are investigating the tragedy.

Police Sergeant James Henry of Fife Division’s Road Policing Unit said: “This is a tragic incident where a young woman has lost her life and our thoughts are with her family at this time.

“We are investigating this collision and I would ask anyone who was on A985 in the early hours of Sunday or has any information, to please get in touch with us immediately.”
