TV gardening star coming to town

HAVE you got black spot on your roses, cabbage root fly on your cabbages, do your newly-planted seeds damp off, or are you just stumped as to which new plant will grow best in that corner of your garden?

Don’t despair! St Andrews Botanic Garden will soon be delighted to welcome Carole Baxter, well-known and knowledgeable star of BBC TVs Beechgrove Garden programme.

She’ll be joining alpine plant expert Graeme Butler of Rumbling Bridge Nursery and the Garden’s own Bob Mitchell, honorary curator, as the panel to take those difficult gardening questions.

If you would like to ask a question, it would be helpful if these are sent in in advance.

Don’t miss this delightful evening which will be held at the Town Hall Supper Room at 7.30pm on Wednesday 4 April. Book your ticket by contacting the publicity officer, Botanic Garden, Canongate, St Andrews KY16 9RT, or on the website under ‘Adult Education’.

The Garden is currently running a petition as part of the campaign to prevent its threatened closure. A web signature can be accepted at, just click the petition link on the righthand side.
