Two Walk A Mile events coming to Fife
The simultaneous Walk a Mile events are being arranged by Fife Health and Social Care Partnership to get people talking about mental health and breaking down stigma.
The aim of the events, on Wednesday, March 29, is to show that mental health can be a topic of everyday conversations, and we are all responsible for creating positive attitudes around it.

Hide AdThe Walk a Mile campaign was created by See Me with activist Chris McCullough Young, based on his walk around the edge of Scotland, where he spoke to everyone he met about mental health, to change attitudes.
So far thousands of people have taken part in Walks across Scotland, bringing together health professionals, carers and people with lived experience of mental health problems to break down barriers as they walk a mile in each other’s shoes.
Julie Paterson, Partnership divisional general manager, Fife-wide said: “This is about tackling stigma and discrimination in mental health one step at a time. What we know is that one in four people experience a mental health problem in any one year and that nine out of ten people with a mental health problem say they have experienced stigma”.
“Working in collaboration with See Me, Walk a Mile is one strand of a range of anti-stigma activity taking place in Fife and we know people will come out and show their support.”
