‘Toodleoo-the-noo!: Brian Taylor finally breaks his Twitter silence on final day as BBC political editor
and live on Freeview channel 276
Taylor, who steps down on Friday after a 35-year career with the broadcaster, wrote: ‘You stay classy Scotland. Toodleoo-the-noo!’
The tweet has received lots of love on the social network, with hundreds of retweets and over a thousand likes.
Renowned for his razor-sharp reporting and analysis – not to mention his colourful ties and braces – Taylor joined the BBC in 1985.
After a spell co-presenting the political programme Left, Right and Centre, he was appointed Political Correspondent and then Political Editor in 1991.
Before joining the BBC, he worked in newspapers for eight years including six years as a lobby correspondent at Westminster.
Taylor, who was born in Dundee in 1955 and is a former pupil of the High School of Dundee, said his job had been “a pleasure, a privilege and, not infrequently, a source of innocent merriment”.
