Val McDermid has joined the board of Raith Rovers.
The Kircaldy born best selling author, and lifelong fan, is joined by businessman John Sim as the club unveils the boardroom changes promised following the recent announcement of Turnbull Hutton’s intention to stand down as chairman.
Thailand based Mr Sim is a major shareholder in the company which owns Stark’s Park as well as the club’s holding company.
More new board members are expected to be unveiled soon - possibly two more.
Val’s name already adorns the current home strip as main sponsor, and the away stand is named in hoour of her father who was a football scout who brought, among others, Jim Baxter to the Kirkcaldy club from Fife junior football.
Mr Sim is a key figure behind the scenes.
Although based in Thailand, his links with the town extend back to his days at Kirkcaldy High School.
He worked with KPMG and is currently global CEO at PKF International, the global network of legally independent accountancy firms.
He first appeared on the scene nine years ago when the club sold Stark’s Park.
