An East Neuk burgh is seeking volunteers to help with the crowning event in its summer calendar.

The Sea Queen Day in St Monans is reckoned to be the oldest gala day in the East Neuk and harks back to the fishing traditions of Scottish coastal villages.

The event is a long-established fun-filled family day, with the highlight b eing the arrival of the Sea Queen onboard the Reaper, the restored fishing boat, while there are stalls, a mini fairground and live music stretching along the harbourfront.

Community involvement is absolutely crucial to the day and more help is urgently needed for the celebration on Saturday, June 13.

Volunteers to help with collecting and erecting the stalls and stage are needed, as well as people willing to step in and provide some brief cover on the stalls during the day.

The event is also important for boosting the community’s coffers and the area’s gardeners are being asked for donations of plants while those whose skills tend to be more flour than flowers are also sought to provide home-baking.

Anyone who can help with the Sea Queen Day should contact Morven on 07704-868-934, Brian (01333) 730741 or Vicki (01333) 739131.
