Waid Academy pupil Kirsty Rodger has been chosen for a two-year term as representative for North East Fife at the Scottish Youth Parliament – the democratically-elected voice of Scotland’s young people.

The S5 pupil, from Lundin Links, won the vote with her pledge: “To open up the world of politics to all youngsters in accordance with the voting age being lowered in Scotland, whereby they will be educated in the running of topical occurrences of our country.”

In her spare time, Kirsty is also an avid musician, playing bassoon, piano, guitar and saxophone in both the Fife Youth Orchestra and Concert Band. She also attends the 18th Fife Scout Group, is a keen sportswoman, particularly enjoying hockey, and enjoys formal debating. All at Waid have congratulated her on her election.
