Motorists are being warned to take care after a drain on the road from Kirkcaldy to Cluny collapsed this afternoon.

A number of drivers have reported damage to car tyres and wheels after hitting the hole on the B981 road near to the entrance to the new Diageo complex at the north west end of Kirkcaldy.

A Police Scotland spokesman said nothing had been reported to them, but Fife Jammers, the social media site which reports on accidents and traffic jams, said that a drain had collapsed around 3pm.

It is believed that the recent heavy rain has been responsible for the collapse.

Fife Council confirmed that it is investigating the collapse and will carry out repairs to the road as soon as possible.
