Warning to licensed premises in Fife after damage to alarm system

Officers issued the warning after one building in Methil High Street had its alarm system damaged at around 10pm on Tuesday, March 5.

It is believed the damage would prevent the system activating during a break-in, leaving the premises vulnerable.

Other premises are asked to be wary of this offence and ensure they have not also been targeted.

Sergeant Neil Johnston from Levenmouth Police Station said: “We believe whoever was responsible intended to re-visit the property after closing time and gain easier entry after disabling the alarm.

“Officers are currently looking to establish if any other premises have been affected and anyone who has observed damage to their alarm system or other security measures should contact police immediately if they have not already done so.

“In addition anyone who has witnessed anything suspicious in Methil High Street or around any other business property should also contact police immediately.”
