Motorists are warned to expect delays at the Forth Road Bridge this weekend while preparatory work for an inspection of the main cable continues.
Traffic will be restricted to a single lane in both directions from 1.00 to 9.30 a.m. on Saturday morning and from 1.00 to 10.30 a.m. on Sunday morning.
Queues are expected to build up after 8.30 a.m. on Saturday and 9.30 a.m. on Sunday but will gradually clear once restrictions are lifted.
Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to cross the bridge using the west footpath/cycleway.
These restrictions are necessary to allow preparatory work to be completed in advance of an inspection of the main cable.
Steelwork will be erected near the top of the south tower so that an access platform can be hoisted into position.
The inspection is being carried to investigate the cause of an increase in wire breaks detected by the bridge’s acoustic monitoring system.
The works are weather dependent - if high winds or other circumstances result in cancellation, as was the case last weekend, they will be rescheduled for the weekend of June 27/28.
