After this weekend, the venue is in line to open on Friday and Saturday nights, before hopefully becoming an established seven-day venture once again.

The Melville family-owned business is being run by Bryan Reed, who has a lot of experience in the evening entertainment industry, and business partner Hamish Waterson.

Mr Reed previously launched and managed Le Monde nightclub in Edinburgh and the Candle Rooms in Kirkcaldy, plus other nightspots.

He told the Press: “The venue has been an integral part of the Kirkcaldy nightlife for decades and we want to ensure this continues.

“We are looking to introduce some new and exciting changes over the coming months, which we believe will bring something unique to the town.

“However, in the short term, we’ll be launching a new seven-day bar and restaurant operation in the coming weeks, with its own dedicated entrance to Charlotte Street.

“It will have its own brand and identity, while still remaining an important part of the Society complex.”

Mr Reed also hopes to retain as many of the previous 25 or so staff as possible.
