On Sunday, residents and family members came together to remember five local heroes lost during World War Two.

On January 23, 1941, the men tried to stop a sea mine from exploding near to the village, but sadly perished when it exploded.

In 2011, 70 years after the tragedy, a memorial to the men - David Laing, Peter Graham, George Storrar, Colin Smart and James Anderson - was unveiled in the village and this is where the West Wemyss Memorial Group and the families laid a wreath on Sunday.

Afterwards, they retired to the West Wemyss Walk Inn for tea and coffee.
