Why you can't turn a bank into a sex shop

Three Fife branches closed by the Royal Bank of Scotland are going under the hammer later this month '“ but careful if you buy one as they come with restrictions!

Former RBS bank in Durie Street, Leven, up for auction

They are among the vacant buildings being auctioned by SVA Properties in Glasgow on February 28.

The 31 lots include the former RBS branches in Durie Street, Leven, and the High Street, Newburgh and Cowdenbeath.

But all three – in common with other former banks across central Scotland also going under the hammer – have a tenure which lists a host of possible uses which are barred.

These include bookmakers, pawnbrokers, bars and sex shops.

The former banks can’t be used for the sale of firearms or any form of gambling ... and no other bank or building society!

The Leven building comes with its own car parking, and accommodation over two floors.

The former branch in Newburgh is a B listed building complete with a small garden area.
