Winner of My Fife My Town competition revealed
We can now reveal the winner in our exclusive photo competition!
John Murray, of Pittenweem, has scooped the top prize in our My Fife My Town Competition after his stunning photo ‘Falkland Sunset’ was voted the best image in our voting polls.
We had an incredible response – there were over seven and a half thousand votes cast in our online Playbuzz poll and newspaper coupon entries!
The first runner up is Barbara Christie from Kirkcaldy with her Night Market photo and the second runner up is John Pow from Kirkcaldy with his Three Bridges image.
We had over 430 entries which were submitted over the summer months with our five judges tasked with whittling it down to a shortlist of 20.
As winner of the competition, John wins an overnight stay and use of the spa facilities at the five star Fairmont Hotel in St Andrews and his winning photo will be framed by Sproson Gallery & Framer.
Barbara will have her photograph framed and she also wins a meal for two people at The Woodside Hotel in Aberdour. John will have his Three Bridges photo framed as the second runner up.
John Murray said: “I am really delighted to win, I am gobsmacked! For my photograph to feature alongside some of the other stunning photographs in the shortlist was such an honour and to be chosen as the winner has just blown me away.
“I know that pictures of Falkland tend to go down really well and I had never seen any photos of Falkland in a different light. So one February I decided to go down to the village and capture a nice sunset, it just kind of happened.”
The Fife tourism officer, who only bought a a DSLR camera last year, added: “I was lucky to get that photo.”
