Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in Leven.

The incident happened in Waggon Road, near to the Hut Shop newsagent, at around 7.35am today (Friday).

A man approached a 57-year-old woman and robbed her of her handbag and its contents.

The suspect is described as white, around 20-30 years old, around 5ft 7in, of slim build and with a local accent.

He was wearing a black coloured jacked with the hood up and dark trousers.

Officers are urging anyone with any information that may assist with their inquiries to get in touch.

Detective sergeant James McGuinness said: “We are presently following a positive line of inquiry, however we are appealing for anyone who has been in this area and may have seen this man around 7.35am to come forward.

“Thankfully the victim was not injured but she is understandably shaken and upset.

“Crimes of this nature are very rare in Leven area, however I would ask members of the public to be vigilant.”
