Drivers in Fife have been advised that work scheduled on the A92 Thornton bypass for this weekend (December 4-7) has been postponed.

High winds and heavy rain which could have a large impact on safety for road users as well as the standard of the resurfacing material mean the work will now have to be re-programmed.

Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s north east unit representative, said: “Unfortunately the inclement weather this weekend has meant that we have had to delay the Thornton Bypass southbound resurfacing for safety reasons.

“We are committed to ensuring the north east trunk road network is maintained to the highest standard, and the improvements planned for the Thornton bypass are part of our commitment to that.

“The works are currently being reprogrammed and we will issue a further statement when we expect to have a break in the weather and complete the road surface improvements.”
