The re-opening of the Greig Institute in Leven has been delayed by at least a week because of problems with the roof.

Refurbishment of the historic town centre building had been due to be completed on Friday, but contractors working on behalf of Fife Council have had to install scaffolding to repair the problem.

There are also issues with the heating system, which needs fixed before the building can be ready for use.

Once complete, it will become a third sector hub, housing Fife Gingerbread, which will move from their current base at Arden House in Leven, alongside Citizens Advice and Rights Fife and Fife Voluntary Action.

Work has been on-going at the building - which has had a number of guises since it was built in 1872 since the middle of July, with new interview rooms and offices being installed, as well as repairs being carried out to windows and guttering.

With the council hoping work will be complete by the end of this week, a date is still to be set for the three groups to move in.
