It was expected that the facility would open in November.

Work has been completed on the new regional indoor football training facility at the Michael Woods Sports & Leisure Centre.

The facility, the first of its kind in Fife, will be available for casual bookings, as well as becoming an important asset for Fife Football Performance Academy, Fife Elite Football Academy, grassroots football programmes and clubs.

The facility was expected to open in November, however, work took longer than expected.

Fife Council say work is now complete and details about its opening are to be made soon.

Fife Council property services manager Raymond Johnston said: “Work on the water connection installation and connection did take longer than expected but we’re pleased that the new indoor training facility is now complete and fully signed off by building control.

“In the next week or so we will be completing the final infrastructure connections back to the main centre so that our colleagues in the trust are able to fully operate the new facility.”

The facility will be operated by Fife Sports and Leisure Trust on behalf of Fife Council.

Scott Urquhart, operations manager for Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, added: “ We are looking forward to welcoming customers to the new facility and will make an announcement about its opening soon.”

The indoor training facility has been built next to the existing outdoor synthetic turf pitches and athletics track at the centre.
