Work is set to begin on the extension of the skate park at Wallsgreen Park in Cardenden.
Councillor Willie Clarke, area committee chairman, and local councillor Mark Hood, recently visited the park to mark the occasion.
Cllr Clarke said: “This skate park is formed from pre-cast concrete and has limited scope. There has been a keen interest in extending it and adding more equipment and lighting. This will undoubtedly make it more attractive and demanding for skaters of all ages.
“I’m delighted that funding from the Council’s area budget is contributing towards such a worthwhile project that has been really driven by the local skaters. Their input to the design has been invaluable and it was a great opportunity for them to help shape improvements in their local area.”
Cllr Mark Hood added: “I really look forward to seeing the designs these young people helped to shape become a reality for them to enjoy.”
Local skater Greg Shand said: “I can’t believe it’s finally starting! We have been working on getting a skate park for a good few years now.
“We were involved in the plans and drawings for the new park which look great!”
Work on the skate park is expected to be completed in September.
