The young pupils at St Monans Nursery will now be adding culinary play to their time outside.
Thanks to the generosity of local forestry and firewood firm SD Provan, the youngsters can cook up some extra fun during playtime with a custom-made ‘cooker’, made with logs, and also seating for their mud garden.
In recent times, Provan’s carved wooden figures, from animals and birds to cartoon characters, have been a regular sight at various outlets. St Monans Nursery places great importance on its outside area, from growing seedlings in its eco-greenhouse to developing a sensory area in the garden, where the children can view insects and other ‘mini beasts’. It also has vegetable patches where the green-fingered youngsters can watch their beetroot, broad bean and carrot seedlings develop and then take home the fresh produce they have grown.
