KFC restaurants close again as supply problems return

KFC was forced to close restaurants again over the weekend after delivery issues caused some outlets to run out of chicken.

A string of branches across the south west of England closed on Saturday after telling customers they were experiencing "delivery issues".

"Apologies for any inconvenience."

Restaurants in Plymouth, including the Union Street, New George Street, St Budeaux and Crown Hill Retail Park branches all closed on Saturday evening and remained closed on Sunday.

Chicken closures

A disappointed customer called 'Stephen', who found the Yeovil branch closed, told Somerset Live: "I found it very frustrating as I'd had my heart set on a KFC.

"I can't say I'm too surprised though given the way things have nosedived there in recent times.

"If you don't have enough food to be able to serve customers at 7pm on a Saturday, you're probably in the wrong industry."

A spokesman for KFC said: "We share his frustrations as we are not open this evening because we are waiting on a delivery.

"We are hoping to be open tomorrow, as long as the delivery arrives."

The closures come just a few months after the fast food giant closed hundreds of its stores across the country for over a week in February due to a problem with a new supplier.

Couriers DHL apologised for its role in the crisis just after promising to "rewrite the rule book and set a new benchmark" for delivery.
