A number of people in Scotland have had to rearrange their coronavirus vaccination appointments after a problem with letter deliveries.

Some appointments in the Lothian area were missed on Monday (15 Mar) following the late arrival of invitation letters. NHS National Services Scotland has apologised for the problem.

A National Services Scotland spokeswoman added: “We are working with all stakeholders to urgently investigate what happened and how many people may have been impacted.

“We will share further information when it becomes available.”

What to do if you are affected

Anyone who missed a Covid vaccine appointment because of the delayed letter deliveries, will automatically receive another letter in the week starting Monday 22 March.

If your Health Board is NHS Lothian, you’re aged between 60 and 64 years of age and you missed your appointment scheduled for any other date (other than 15 March), you can rearrange online using the instruction on your vaccination invite or contact the helpline on 0800 030 8013.

A statement from NHS National Services Scotland said: “The national programme would like to apologise to any resident who missed an appointment and for any inconvenience caused.

“Although the vast majority of vaccination appointments run smoothly, the national delivery partners met today to build a better understanding of what happened on this occasion.

“We are working closely together to ensure we give people the advance notice they need for vital vaccination appointments.”

What to do if you miss your vaccine appointment

If you think you should have received an invitation to your Covid-19 vaccination appointment by now, or if you lost your invitation letter, you should contact NHS Scotland.

This can be done through the phone or by completing an online form. NHS Scotland advises that you do not use the contact form for any other reason.

NHS Scotland are aiming for everyone in priority groups 1 to 9 to have their first dose of a coronavirus vaccine by mid-April 2021.

If you are aged 50 to 64 years, you should expect to receive your first coronavirus vaccination invitation letter soon.
