Curry Restaurant of the Year Award 2025 given to Fife eaterie specialising in Nepalese and Indian cuisine

Annapurna Gurkhas Restaurant in Kirkaldy has just been crowned the Best Restaurant of the Year in the 2025 Scottish Curry Awards, after winning the regional crown of best Indian Restaurant in Fife.
The awards, now in their 17th year, celebrate the best Indian cuisine from across the country. Annapurna Gurkhas Restaurant is renowned for its authentic Nepalese and Indian dishes, and was also given an Outstanding Achievement Award in the Nepalese Restaurant of the Year category.
Manager Yuvraj Sapkota, who last year was named Manager of the Year in the same awards, puts the success down to a number of factors – mainly ensuring the best quality and taste in the food and outstanding customer service.
“We cook authentic Nepalese food and dishes from around India. It’s about the delicate balance of spices and always using the freshest ingredients,” said Yuvraj, who oversees the 66-seater restaurant at 312 High Street.
“We also have a commitment to providing a memorable dining experience and are known for our generous portions and friendly service.”
He also paid tribute to the staff and the customers, who have supported the restaurant since it first opened in 2008.
“Our achievements are incomplete without your unwavering support. You are more than just customers. You are a part of our inspirational success story. Your trust in us is our most cherished possession, and we are grateful for the confidence you have placed in us.”

On the menu
Nepalese food is renowned for being healthy, and using less oil or ghee than some South Asian cuisines. The mountainous terrain of Nepal means its food history is that of using locally grown produce including local herbs and spices.
Dishes like momos (dumplings) and dat bhat (lentil soup with rice) are staple foods, made for sharing with family and friends and many of the spices, such as turmeric, cumin and ginger, also have health benefits too.
There are many vegetarian dishes on the menu and vegan options too, as well as familiar curries including tandooris and sasliks, masalas, bhunas, jalfrezeis, dhansaks, karahis and methis.
Yuvraj explained that dishes can be cooked to different spice strengths too – depending on what the customer prefers, so you will always get the taste and flavour profile you want.
