Multi award-winning Fife restaurant launches brand new menu

Dhoom in Dunfermline has been tickling the tastebuds of Fifers for years, with Chef Prasad’s unique recipe for success.
Bringing ingredients from the Delhi border to the Wagah, his creativity and flavours are a hit. Nor do they get a chance to become too familiar, as every six months he launches a complete new menu. That’s just one of the reasons why Courier judges awarded Dhoom with a Restaurant of the Year gong, an a nomination for Community Champion at the same Food and Drinks Awards.

· Best Street Food restaurant from Scottish Curry Awards
· Best Chef in the country from the Courier.
New menu launch
With a fanfare and true sense of theatrical style, the latest Punjab street food inspired menu was launched at the New Row restaurant, to the sound of Scottish bagpipes and Indian drums, in a fusion of culture and tastes.
The select first night diners got to enjoy a 10-course dinner menu, while for those with less hearty appetites the three or seven course lunch options could be the perfect choice.
“We had a fantastic time presenting this exciting new tasting menu, inspired by the incredible Punjab region, to our special guests,” said Chef/Proprietor Prasad. “My thanks go to the colourful Indian drummer and piper for joining us last night. They kept us all entertained and created a real buzz in which to celebrate the new menu. The menu was then live and diners coming in for the rest of the evening were able to order it. The feedback has been very, very positive, so we are all delighted.”

Traditions, flavours and what to expect
For Chef Prasad, importing ingredients he discovers on his travels to India are an enticing part of each menu, celebrating 5000 years of culinary history.
We use traditional techniques which are passed down through the generations to create the taste sensation which is this new menu.
This season’s highlights include Lamb Saag & Makki di Roti, a Winter classic, rich, earthy and comforting, alongside Amritsar Chole-Puri, crisp bread paired with a tangy chickpea curry. Tandoori dishes are also included, from smoky kebabs, to charred flavourful tikkas. Thick, creamy and refreshing Lassi, the traditional yoghurt based drink, is part of the exciting menu.
And, no evening out is complete just with what’s on the plate – the perfect glass can complement and enhance a meal. A delicious new cocktail celebrating Punjab has also been added to the drinks menu. “Pearls of Amritsar” is a vodka-based cocktail with fresh lime, mint, cumin, and mango powder, garnished with dried red chilli and gram flour pearls.
Meaning “the land of five waters”, Punjab, situated in the NW of India, derives its name from five rivers – the Ravi, Beas, Chenab, Sutlej, and Jhelum.
Food in Punjab is not just food, it's respected, relished, and remembered. This menu presents that experience.
Chef Prasad added: “All of these new dishes and drinks are a tribute to Punjab‘s spirit – bold vibrant and full of heart,” said Prasad. “This menu will take you on a flavourful journey from Murthal, on the Delhi Border, to Wagah.”
