Chris Auger could make his return from injury this weekend after taking part in Fife Flyers’ training this week.
Auger has been sidelined since being knocked through the Cardiff Devils’ team bench door in a match at Fife Ice Arena on December 19.
It had been feared that the 27-year-old centreman could miss the rest of the season after initial tests revealed complications with his shoulder injury.
However, he has now been given the green light and a return to the team for this weekend’s double header with Belfast Giants is now a distinct possibility.
Head coach Todd Dutiaume said: “Chris started skating with us last night (Tuesday) so we could see him in the line-up at the weekend.
“We want to make sure everything’s all clear and that he’s in the shape and condition we want him to be in. If he’s in the line up I’ll ask him to let me know how he’s feeling, and I’m sure I’ll convince him to eat up some minutes.
“He’s a great player to have back and it will allow us to get more out of others.”
