Bad start, but a great finish for Glenrothes

Kinnoull 2

Glenrothes 4

ThIS ACA Sports Central League Cup quarter-final game got off to a terrible start for Glenrothes as Kinnoull caught them off guard after a corner kick was easily headed in.

Minutes later the Warout Stadium team got back on level pecking after a free-kick rebounded to Chris Gay, whose shot from 25 yards out went in off the post.

After the goal Ian Paterson’s men continued to put pressure on the Kinnoull defence and they were rewarded on 28 minutes when a corner fell to James Murray who hammered into the back of the net to make it 2-1.

Six minutes later a Scott Napier pass come shot fell to James Murray who slid into the back of the net from 15 yards to make it 3-1.

The second-half started off slow with little chances being created by both teams with Kinnoull having the bulk of the possession.

The Kinnoull pressure paid off on the 78th minute after another corner was whipped in and headed into the back of the net to make it 3-2

Glens sealed victory in the 80th after a fine effort from Scott Napier found the top of the net from 30 yards out to make it 4-2.
