Eight wins and counting for Connor - but title shot can wait

The Glenrothes Boxing Club middleweight topped the bill as he defeated Manchester’s Darryl Sharp on points after four rounds at the Grangemouth Sports Complex.

While Sharp, who had a 1-6 record prior to the fight, posed some problems for the 23-year-old, it was a mostly comfortable win for Law, who took a 40-36 scorecard verdict.

“I was up against a tough opponent, which was good,” he told the Gazette.

“I got a wee challenge, but never felt threatened, or got hurt at any stage.

“I was able to control the fight at all times, and never once felt out of my comfort zone.

“That’s not because my opponent wasn’t a good fighter, it was just because I was on the ball.”

Law had his opponent on the back foot in the opening round with lightning jabs and powerful combination punches.

He continued to dominate in the middle rounds with strong body shots which started to break Sharp’s defences.

By the fourth round, The Lawman was pushing for the knock-out, but the bell rang just too soon.

The win continues Law’s perfect record since turning pro in 2014, but he is prepared to wait until next year for his title shot.

“There’s no point in me yelling for a title shot if that’s not what my manager and coach want me to do,” he said.

“I’m new to the pro game and they are building me up slowly so that when the time comes, I’m ready.

“I’m still young so I know I can afford to be patient.”
