Glenrothes boxer Law aiming for the perfect 10

Connor Law puts his unbeaten record on the line this Friday when he steps into the ring against a former French middleweight title contender.

The Glenrothes Boxing Club pro squares up against Cameroon-born Francis Tchoffo (29) at Meadowbank Stadium on the undercard of Josh Taylor.

Tchoffo is an experienced campaigner with 17 wins and 12 losses, and Connor’s coach, Stevie McGuire, reckons this will be his boxer’s toughest test yet in his 10th professional fight.

“Tchoffo likes to go to war so we’re expecting fireworks,” McGuire told the Gazette.

“He’s no dumpling. He won’t be an easy pushover but Connor needs a couple of tests like this to see how he can handle it.

“He’ll be rough, rugged and he’ll come to fight, but Connor should be far better than him.

“He’ll put Connor under pressure so he’ll just need to stick in and throw more combinations.

“Connor is in fine fettle and he’s been looking forward to the fight. He is ready and raring to go.”

A victory in Friday’s fight will edge Connor (24) ever closer to a title fight, with his next bout scheduled for the St Andrews Sporting Club in Glasgow on April 20.

“If he gets through both fights unscathed, we’re looking at possibly an eliminator or title fight at the end of May,” McGuire explained.

“Connor’s at the stage where he’s got to start stepping up. The next opponent always has to be harder than the last, and that’s the direction we’re going in.”

Friday’s undercard will be broadcast on Spike TV with the main event going out live on Channel 5.
