Kingdom Boxing Club flying high as former RAF boxer Bowie joins coaching team

Kingdom Boxing Club has welcomed Scott Bowie as the newest member of the club’s coaching team.

Scott, who stays in Leslie, started his boxing career at Glenrothes Boxing Club while based at RAF Leuchars working as a mechanical technician in the Royal Air Force.

Scott went on to be posted to RAF Lossiemouth also doing spells in the Middle East, America and Spain.

Whilst stationed in Lossiemouth over a six year period Scott trained and boxed for Elgin Boxing Club as well as the RAF, eventually having to retire from boxing due to an Achilles injury.

He then made the decision to get into coaching to stay involved with the sport.

Bowie went on to gain Boxing Scotland Levels 1 & 2 coaching certificates whilst coaching with Elgin BC and England Boxing Levels 1 & 2 coaching with the RAF, attending tournaments in England and abroad on many occasions.

Scott is currently one of only ten coaches participating in Boxing Scotland’s first ever Level 3 course and is also a qualified personal trainer.

Now retired from the RAF and back living and working in the local area Kingdom BC have said they are looking forward to seeing him at the club and know he will be a big asset to the them and and their boxers.

Also returning to the coaching team is formerthree weight three time Scottish Champion and multiple time District Champion Kevin Bruce.

Few boxers in the history of Scottish boxing to have won three titles at three different weight categories, Kevin only lost twice in over thirty five bouts, retiring from boxing by winning the Fife Heavyweight Title at Pettycur Bay in 2017.

Family and work commitments have prevented Bruce getting to the club as much as he would have liked over the last few seasons but circumstances have now changed.

Both Scott and Kevin will be working alongside Kingdom’s Head Coach and Boxing Scotland’s longest serving and most successful ever National Coach Mike Keane.

Keane was Scotland’s first ever AIBA World Boxing National Governing Body three star coach and is still only one of two in Scotland.

Also making up the highly experienced and qualified coaching staff at Kingdom is Assistant Head Coach Brian Allan who is a Boxing Scotland Level 2

The team is completed by coaches Alex McGrow; Bobby Lewis; Don Lewis; Stewart Keane; Amber Keane; Michael Sinclair and Euan Stewart
