After the committee carried out a host of risk assessments and deep cleaning of the Rosslyn Street gym, the club opened its doors on Monday to start working indoors once again.

Club secretary George Forrester said he was “delighted” to be back at work, adding: “It’s what we have all been waiting for.”

He said there were a number of changes that the club has had to adapt to, especially with reference to the number of adults and children that can be trained safely during a session.

There are also considerations made to social distancing, increased hygiene procedures, duration of sessions and types of activity permitted at the club.

He said: “Due to restrictions we have had to change training nights and times and adult classes will be on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and kids classes will now be on a Tuesday and Thursday night from 6.15pm to 7pm.

“We also will be operating the additional safety procedures for kids classes which must be strictly adhered to.”

Parents and guardians must park on St Clair Street as there is no parking in Seaforth Place, and walk must with their child to the club gate where they will be met by a member of staff.

No adults apart from club personnel will be allowed in the gym.

They are also asked to not arrive too early; 6pm at earliest for a 6.15pm start, and late comers will not be allowed entry after 6.15pm.

George added: “Kids must have their own boxing gloves – sharing gloves or using club gloves is not permitted.

“The club have sourced new gloves at a modest cost and will be selling them at cost price.

“Please also bring a full water bottle and do not share or drink with others.

He added: “Due to restrictions in numbers, we will be operating a phased introduction to the sessions by taking existing members who were training with us pre-lockdown first and accepting new starts at a later date.”
