While Britian’s Paralympic stars flew home from Rio over the weekend, Ray was heading in the opposite direction as he prepares to take on Brazilian fighter Alan Patrick in his own backyard.

Injuries have sidelined Stevie since his victory over Mickael Lebout in Dublin last October but he is now back to full fitness and looking to continue his 100 per cent winning record in the UFC.

Since joining the UFC in April last year the former St Andrews High School pupil has amassed an impressive three-fight win streak, with two of them coming by TKO finish.

This earned him the title of Fife Free Press Group Sports Star of the Year 2016 at the Kirkcaldy and Central Fife Sports Council awards ceremony in March.

Patrick, meanwhile, has only tasted defeat once in 14 fights as a professional mixed martial arts fighter and will have the backing of the home crowd in Brasilia.

Stevie Ray fans can watch his fight against Alan Patrick at UFC Fight Night: Cyborg vs. Lansberg, live on UFC Fight Pass from 11.30 p.m BST on Saturday, September 24. The fight is being screened in Kirkcaldy venue, Society.
