Boyd is the man to take Falkland on

Boyd is an experienced level three coach who recently took up the position as Cricket Scotland development officer for Perth and Kinross.

Last year he was coach at Barrow in Furness in the Northern Premier Cricket League.

He has also been a performance coach at Tonbridge School in Kent, Northumberland and Cumbria age groups and Kent U17 girls.

Brock Ditchmen, the club’s first XI Captain said: “We were very impressed with Stephen from the moment we met him.

“He has great enthusiasm for coaching and is passionate about developing players.

“We are very much looking forward to him making a real impact this season.”

Robbie Nellies, club president, added that it had been Falkland’s intention since the end of last season to find an experienced coach and that Boyd more than fits the bill.

He added: “It’s really important for us to continue to develop our players across the club.

“I am delighted that we have been able to engage Stephen and am confident that he will move the whole club forward’’.

Boyd will also play for the club.

In the past he has played Minor Counties Cricket for Northumberland and also represented England at U17 level.

A few years back he was Pro at Ashington CC who play in the Northumberland & Tyneside Premier League.

The new head coach said: “Falkland CC come across to me as a once small club with big ambitions. 

“I am delighted to be joining a forward thinking and progressive club who can hold their own against any side in the Eastern Premier League. 

“With some more accomplished batting performances to add to the established bowling and fielding contributions, Falkland CC should have top four ambitions for 2016.”

Boyd’s first job will be to take charge of the club’s indoor net sessions at the Loch Leven Campus, Kinross beginning on February 10.

The sessions run right up to the start of the season run from 6.30pm-8pm.
