Charity golf tournament set to get underway in April

A new golf competition will tee off in April with those taking part hoping to raise plenty of cash for charity.

EdenFields Golf Club has teamed up with SRUC Elmwood Golf in support of the leading children’s charity Barnardo’s Scotland by arranging an inaugural fundraising tournament on April 27 at Elmwood Golf Centre.

EdenFields Golf Club operates a mixed field competition policy so the club is appealing to keen female and male golfers throughout Scotland to sign up to the mixed team tri-am competition.

Deborah Grossman, community fundraising manager for Barnardo’s Scotland, said: “We are honoured that EdenFields Golf Club and SRUC Elmwood Golf have chosen to host this fundraising competition for our charity.

“With their inclusive ethos, EdenFields GC is a fitting partner to champion the values of equality and diversity that are core to what we do.

“The funds golfers raise at this great event will help us to continue the valuable support we provide to thousands of children and young people in their own communities.”

Captain of EdenFields Golf Club, Chris Hobster said the event was sure to be a highlight of the club’s calendar.

“This will be an enjoyable day for all golfers and they will be supporting a really worthwhile cause,” she added.

“Golfers taking part can look forward to a great game of golf on Elmwood’s course and then enjoy the excellent food served in the Fairways restaurant.

“There has already been strong support from other golf clubs, national football clubs and Fife businesses so we have some great prizes for the teams to play for.”

Entry is £27 per team, teams should consist of at least one man and woman and every golfer must have a ‘C’ status handicap.

Golfers interested should contact Elmwood Golf Club on 0131 339 3987.
