Connor's goal of the season

Golfer Connor Syme has said he'd achieved one of his 'goals of the season' in being selected for the Scottish men's squad in the World Amateur Team Championships in Mexico.

The 21-year-old from Drumoig – recently back after a commendable bid in the US Amateur Champioship in Michigan – will be among the three-man squad challenging for the Eisenhower Trophy in Riviera Maya from September 21-24.

“It was a goal at the start of the season to try and get into the Eisenhower team,” he said. “I’ve never been to Mexico before – it will be cool.” Connor added the Scottish players were all ranked in the world’s top 25, so they had a strong line-up and would be going into the event with confidence.
