Derek wins race to St Andrews

Top disabled golfers from across the UK were invited to attend the finale to Scottish Disability Golf's season in St Andrews.

From as far afield, as London, Liverpool, Lancashire and the Scottish islands, as well as locals from Fife, the disabled golfers played the St Andrews Links Jubilee Golf Course o and the Old Course Hotel owned Dukes Golf Course.

The event hosts, Scottish Disability Golf, invited the current Scottish Order of Merit Champion, The Scottish Open winner from earlier in the year held at Kinross, as well as the British Masters Champion and the numerous winners from the Scottish Merit Tables across the year.

Scottish Pairs – Annette Cunningham and Ann Douglas of Edinburgh with a season average of 31 points.

The Race to St Andrews Event, over 36 holes was won by Derek Milne of Upper Largo with 69 pts, Billy Cairns of Kilmarnock with 67 pts and Jim Gales of Springfield with 66 pts.

The Scottish Order of Merit Championship, 15 events, was won by Jim Thomson of Millport with 134 pts, Jim Gales of Springfield with 127 pts and Scott Anderson of Aberdeen with 116 pts.

The SDGP’s 2017 season will tee off in April, with games across the country, including venues in Ayrshire, Perthshire, Invernessshire, Fife.and Edinburgh.
