Earlier on the same day Layla had also destroyed her previous personal best and jumped to third in the Scottish U13 200m rankings for 2016 when placing second in her semi-final in an excellent 28.01.

Ellie then ended the day with two excellent personal bests in the 60m and the 200m.

She placed fifth in the U13 girls’ 60m semi-final in 8.84 and 3rd in the U13 girls’ 200m semi-final in 28.31.

In the latter event, she was unlucky to miss a spot in a high quality final by just one place and one tenth of a second.
